Today we have Haley checking in on those of you who are working from home. With the new rules and precautions of COVID a lot more working people have the option to work from home. This is a great thing because you don’t have to worry about getting ready for work. But this can also be a not so great…
I know if I were working from home, I would probably set up an office on the couch, dining room table or like in this video in my comfy bed. We often don’t think about our posture while in bed right? Well when it comes time to have to sit for a long period of time in a not so correct position if can do more harm than good.
As Haley our clinician demonstrates pillows are your friend! Next time you grab your laptop and crawl back in bed try these few simple adjustments to insure you stay in the correct and comfortable position.
Also, a reminder to always try to get up every half an hour to make sure you don’t get stiff. Try placing your laptop on the kitchen counter then you’ll have a standing workstation.
Below are the step by step instructions on how working from the bed room doesn’t mean you have to have back, neck or shoulder pain:
Pillows, Pillows, and more pillows is the main thing you’ll need to start with. Also, if you have a lumbar roll at home grab that as well. If not, that’s ok just grab and towel and roll it like you see Haley has done. After you get you supplies together ow its time to get started.
First your going to climb into your bed. Once you have gotten in your favorite spot place you want to make sure you have some pillows propped up behind you and scoot all the way back. Once you are sitting as far back as you can take your rolled towel and place it in the curve of your back. By doing this it will make sure you are sitting up nice and straight.
The next step is you’ll grab another pillow and put that one under your knees. This pillow is mainly for comfort. And lastly your take that last pillow and place on your lap this will be you workstation that you can place your laptop and/or tablet on.
Once you have your device in your lap you want to make sure your shoulders are nice and relaxed. If your shoulders are high up this will put stress on your neck and shoulder muscles and cause you to be uncomfortable.
