Do Orthotics Really Work? YES – And Here’s How!

March 3, 2024

Are you tired of missing out on the joys of life due to persistent pain?

Whether it’s struggling to keep up with daily activities or feeling discomfort during your favorite hobbies, pain can cast a shadow over every aspect of your life.

You’ve heard of orthotics, those inserts for your shoes that promise relief, but you’re skeptical – do they really work?

Let’s explore the answer to this common question and discover how orthotics could be the key to unlocking a pain-free life.

What Exactly Are Orthotics?

First, let’s understand what orthotics are.

Orthotics, also known as insoles or shoe inserts, are specially designed devices worn inside your shoes to provide support, cushioning, and alignment to your feet and lower limbs.

They’re tailored to address specific biomechanical issues, such as overpronation or supination, and can help improve overall foot function.

Do Orthotics Help?

Yes, but don’t just take our word for it.

Let’s hear from one of our clients who experienced firsthand the transformative power of orthotics:

“I was suffering with problems in my lower back for years, and these problems spread to my glutes, hamstrings, and right down to my feet. I was waking up in the morning and it took me minutes to be able to stand up straight – not great for what is considered a fit 35-year-old man.

I looked into some local physios and came across Paul Gough Physio Rooms, so I booked an appointment pretty quickly. When I got there, I was greeted by a nice young woman called Jade – she was my physio. After a few pleasantries and I’d explained my problems, she recommended some orthotics, or insoles, to help my posture. Now, like most men, I thought what a waste of money it would be, but I went ahead with it anyway, thinking what’s the harm – if they don’t work I just won’t wear them.

I was wearing them for a few weeks and felt ok, but I didn’t really think I was benefiting from them. This is about the time I started walking with a friend in the morning. We always took the same route.

On one walk, I forgot to put my orthotics in. I thought nothing of it, thinking they don’t do anything anyway, I’ll be fine. WELL, I WAS PROVEN VERY WRONG. Not even halfway around the walk, I could feel my hips aching, my back tightening, and my feet and ankles were weaker. Everything felt uncomfortable. From an easy 90-minute walk, I suffered for days.

This is when I knew my insoles were working and worth every penny. Not only that, but it had me asking for a second pair. Months on now, and I can tell within minutes when I haven’t got them in because everything feels off balance.

Orthotics in, just feels right. They are a necessity when leaving my house now. Keys, money, phone, insoles.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED”

This experience highlights the real-life benefits of orthotics.

While initially skeptical, he experienced a stark difference when he forgot to wear his orthotics during a walk.

The discomfort and pain he felt without them served as a powerful reminder of the positive impact orthotics were having on his daily life.
